The Master
Pattenmaker, Mr S H Lamb
Stuart was born and brought up in Yorkshire. After attending De Montfort College he joined the family footwear business and is currently the third generation member to run the firm, which was founded by his grandfather in 1887 to make clogs for the mines and mills of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The company now produces all categories of footwear overseas for sale in Europe and supplies many of the world’s largest retailers and brands.
Stuart was admitted to the Livery in 1995, became Trade Warden in 1998 and an Assistant to the Court in 2000. He is an energetic fundraiser and very concerned about the lack of young talent coming into the footwear industry. Through his involvement with the Young Managers Awards schemes, he is eager to raise the profile of the Livery both in the industry and with younger people.
Stuart is married to Jean and they have two children, Ruth, a doctor in Edinburgh, and Charlotte, a solicitor in London. Charlotte has recently become a Liveryman. Stuart has two children from his previous marriage, William, who is Residentiary Canon of Sheffield Cathedral & Anglican Chaplain at the University of Sheffield, and Deborah, who is a Marketing Manager at KPMG.
